The State of California is a state located in the western Pacific region of the United States and was
the 31st admitted to the Union. It is the most populous state of the United States. It is bordered by
Oregon to the north, Nevada to the east, and Arizona to the southeast in the United States, as well as
Baja California in Mexico to the south. California's capital city is Sacramento, with the four largest
cities being Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, and San Francisco. California is known for its diverse
climate and geography, as well as ethnically diverse population. The state has 58 counties.
